On the surface, Scott begins modifying a shuttle to evade Gorn vessels, while Batel reveals to Pike that she's infected with Gorn eggs after she forces a youngling to stand down. The estranged Chapel and Spock work together to jettison the saucer toward the interference field emitter. Spock travels into the saucer section of the Cayuga, where he discovers Chapel is the sole survivor.
